Mentoring Reception for Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law

The Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation, joined by the Office of Career Services and Professional Development, the Black Law Student Association, Hispanic Student Bar Association and the Caribbean Law Student Association of NSU Law School, hosted a student mentoring event on September 15, 2020. José Roberto (Beto) Juárez Jr., who joined NSU Law as dean in 2020 gave opening remarks to the students, faculty, KMMF Board Members, lawyers, and judges attending the event. He stated that he was proud to continue to develop the university as a premier learning community focused on what students need to practice law in the complex and modern workplace. Dean Juárez was especially happy to see so many mentors all with different levels of experience. We heard inspirational remarks from John Kozyak, KMMF's Foundation Founder, H.T. Smith, Director of Trial Advocacy at FIU Law, Ashley Gantt, President of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association, Karina Rodrigues, President of the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association, and Robert Vaughn, President of the Broward County Bar Association. There were 64 attendees who participated in the event.

We encourage students to continue to complete the mentee applications on the KMMF website. John Kozyak has been working tirelessly to match mentees to mentors. Our hope is that these matches will develop into lasting and meaningful relationships that will benefit students in their legal careers.
